The objective was to conceptualize, name and brand a conference to educate a targeted community on a topic related to environmental responsibility. I chose the topic of post-consumer recycling and products. Or, in other words, using recycled items like plastic bottles and yogurt cups to create new goods, such as toothbrushes and rain jackets. Included in the case study is a direct-mail poster, brochure, name tag and iPhone app.

Direct-mail poster, Double-sided 17 x 20" | This direct-mail poster goes out to potential attendees, advertising the conference and directing people to the Renew Conference website to register. This is the first introduction of the key water bottle figure. The concept comes from the idea of 'putting a new face on the old water bottle.'

Conference Brochure, 4 x 8" | Given to all attendees upon entering the conference. The brochure holds a detailed schedule, speaker bios and a spread featuring cool (eco-friendly) ways to see Seattle.

Conference Name Tag + Schedule (Back) | Given to all attendees upon entering the conference. The name tag features a schedule on the back for quick reference. The front begins blank, and at each breakout session the individual is given a piece of their water bottle's face, unique to that breakout session, in the form of a sticker. This acts as a key, indicating which breakout sessions each person has attended. This gives attendees the opportunity to collaborate with people who went to different sessions, as well as recall who was at the ones they attended.

Renew Conference iPhone App | Designed for attendee use at the conference, the app is intended to give people something fun to do during down time at the conference. On the first screen, the user can build a face out of hundreds of facial components and color options. The second screen gives them the opportunity to name the bottle and submit information about themself. Once submitted, the water bottles and their subsequent information are displayed on screens throughout the conference.

Editorial Art Direction, Inspired by Urban Outfitter

In collaboration with my dear friend and fashion photographer, Arielle Vey, I co-directed this shoot inspired by Urban Outfitter's 2009 Holiday line. However, the aesthetic direction and brand guidelines were the vision of myself and another graduating student. I designed the poster, which was then translated into a postcard and website, designed by classmates.

Senior Show Poster 17 x 11" | Over 100 posted around Seattle advertising the 2010 Seattle Pacific University Visual Communication Design Senior Show. The objective was to create a poster that included the entire class. The concept is based around a CMYK theme, calling attention to the nature of the show. The biggest challenge was turning a photo-based concept into an articulate piece of design. The use of transparency creates interesting shapes and playful secondary colors.

Senior Design Show Postcard 6 x 4" | Sent out to 500 professionals and prospective attendees advertising the exhibition dates and opening reception.
